Purpose: The Associate of Science (AS) Science Pre-Medical Major is a part of the transfer degree program, which is designed for students who plan to complete a baccalaureate or other degree program at a four-year college or university, or who are not yet prepared to select a definite career objective. The AS Science Pre-Medical Major provides the first two years of a guided pathway for students interested in transferring to a four-year college or university and entering a medical or related field.

Objectives: NRCC students will transfer to four-year institutions with a foundation of relevant science and general education courses.

Transfer Virginia: This degree includes UCGS courses. Students are strongly encouraged to consult their academic advisor and review program options using the Transfer Virginia Portal, https://www.transfervirginia.org.

Admission Requirements: The student must meet the entrance requirements established by the college. Students are urged to check the mathematics requirements of the four-year college or university to determine the proper mathematics course to be taken at the community college. In addition, they should contact the appropriate four-year institution to determine the transferability of elective courses.
