Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to sit for the competency evaluation required by the Virginia Board of Nursing in order to be placed on the nurse aide registry.
Teaches care of older patients with emphasis on the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of geriatric patients; procedures; communication and interpersonal relations; observation, charting and reporting; safety and infection control; anatomy and physiology; personal care, nutrition and patient feeding; death and dying. May include laboratory or clinical hours.
