Admission Requirements: In addition to the admission requirements established for the college, entry into the certificate in Accounting requires English prerequisites as described in the catalog. Additionally, students should have command of the fundamental processes of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. Students who are found deficient in English and fundamental mathematics will be required to correct their deficiencies in developmental courses.

Program Requirements: The first semester of this program must be completed in the summer if students expect to obtain the certificate in one year at New River Community College. All credits obtained in this program can be applied to the two-year degree. This program is highly concentrated in accounting skills with minimum emphasis given to general education and business-related subjects. Instruction will include both theoretical concepts and practical applications needed for future success in Accounting. Upon satisfactory completion of the three semester curriculum, the student will be awarded a certificate in Accounting.
